The purpose of the event is to give students of the Health and Human Services, Academic Institute of Gulfport High School the opportunity to utilize skills learned through-out the year, such as completing an application, interview skills, networking and etiquette skills. They will demonstrate their learning by completing an application and being interview by professionals from local business community.

During the event, sessions will also be conducted by subject matter experts on topics that will benefit the senior students as they leave the high school environment to go to the work force, two year or four year college programs.  The additional topic are:

    “Financial Literacy”

“Be the Best You Can Be” – Time Management, Work Ethic, Organization Skills, Philanthropic Work, the Attributes of Positive Attitude

“HR 101” – What to Expect - Acquiring and Starting a New Job, Dress for Success

“Navigating the World of Social Media” – The Do’s and Don’ts

During the Banquet portion of the event, students will sit with a minimum of two local business professionals per table and be expected to display proper dining etiquette, carry on conversations about their future and represent themselves, their institute and their school district in a professional environment.  Food will be prepared and served by the Culinary Institute students from Gulfport High School. This allows the culinary students critical hands on experience as well.

Mayor Billy Hewes will be the Keynote Speaker. Business professionals will learn more about the Academic Institutes at Gulfport High School and the CEO of the United Way will speak about the United Way’s Dedication to Education in South Mississippi.

We need 25 business professionals to assist with the interview process and to attend the luncheon. Please join us and help provide our students with a valuable and memorable experience. Who knows? You may just meet the next generation of talent for your organization!
