Legal Considerations of the Hiring Process – Susan Desmond

Let’s face It – in bad economies, jobs are hard to come by.  Even in good economies, individuals are always looking for that “better” job where they will get more money.  And, statistics show that 9 and out 10 applicants embellish or outright lie on their resumes or applicants.  Furthermore, former employees are most likely give you “neutral references” so you, as an employer, cannot check out the information the applicant has provided you.   What are you to do?  All is not lost.  There are many tools at your fingertips that you don’t even think about to make sure you are getting a good applicant pool and accessing that applicant pool to hire the best qualified candidate.  You still have to be careful along the way.  There are some legal issues that you must be concerned with along the way!

    Areas Covered in the Session:

    •             Why job descriptions are important in the recruitment process

    •             Screening Applications and Resumes
