    Program length: 60 minutes

Program times: To accommodate the large number of SHRM members expected to view this program, it has been prerecorded and will be offered at the following times (please sign up for only one):

As of late April 2021, about 40 percent of Americans had received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine and about 25 percent of the population is fully vaccinated. There is still a long way to go before the country achieves so-called herd immunity, and HR has a vital role to play in getting to that point.

In this program, Andy Slavitt, senior advisor to the White House COVID-19 Response Team, and Tom West, deputy assistant secretary for domestic business tax in the Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy, discuss with Alexander Alonso, Ph.D., SHRM-SCP, SHRM's chief knowledge officer, how HR can help lead the effort to vaccinate workers and the federal tax incentives available to employers that encourage employees to take time off to get vaccinated.

After that discussion, Alonso and Amber Clayton, SHRM-SCP, will review questions received by the SHRM HR Knowledge Center on what steps employers can take to encourage vaccinations, how to create effective health and safety policies, and HR strategies and practices for a post-COVID-19 world.
