    Jared Burns is a seasoned leader in the public and private industry with experience in administration as well as an adjunct instructor in the college setting.

    Currently, Jared is employed as the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at the largest community college in the state of Mississippi (consisting of 10 locations across four counties). Prior to his current position, Jared was employed as a Regional Director of Human Resources and Workforce at the largest senior healthcare provider in the state of FL and 4th largest nationally (wherein he was responsible for oversight of 20 HR departments across four states). To date, Jared has experience managing up to 40 HR departments across multiple states at one time and has provided HR support in over 25 states across the country.

    Jared has received numerous professional acknowledgments in his career including being featured in the MS Business Journal’s Top 40, awarded Distinguished Facilitator and Expert Facilitator designations at MS Gulf Coast Community College (MGCCC), recipient of the “In The Blue” award (MGCCC), and featured in the MGCCC’s President's Report for FY 21 as the most frequent facilitator of Employee Development Program sessions college-wide. Jared has also received numerous acknowledgments throughout his academic career including being selected as a Ronald E. McNair Scholar.

    Jared is active and has held leadership positions in several professional networking associations and nonprofit organizations. He has served as Vice President, President, and Board Member of the College and University Professional Association of HR (CUPAHR) LA/MS Chapter, as well as in the MS Community College Board HR Association.

    Jared has participated in several leadership development programs including completing CUPAHR’s Associate Leadership Program, the MS Community College Leadership Program, the American Association of Community Colleges’ John Roueche Future Leaders Institute, and the McNair Scholars Program.

    Jared has obtained several professional certifications to date. Jared maintains a certification as a Professional in Human Resources through the Human Resources Certification Institution. In addition, Jared received a certification in Gerontology through William Carey University.

    Jared avidly supports a philosophy of lifelong learning. Educationally Jared has completed a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Gerontology, a master’s degree in Human Resources Management, a Juris Doctorate, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Community College Leadership. Additionally, Jared completed 18 hours of master’s degree studies in Clinical Social Work. Jared also has completed countless hours of professional development and continuing education credits. Further, Jared is a frequent developer of custom professional development content which has been presented to local, state, and national organizations. To date, Jared’s custom content on human resources and human capital solutions has resulted in over 1,800 hours of professional development training for attendees.
