GCHRA visits MGCCC

    November 30, 2018

The President of Gulf Coast Human Resource Association (GCHRA) visited Ms. Pisarich's Management class at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College on Thursday.

Lauren Germany spoke to students about real-world applications of HR topics they've learned throughout the semester. She also spoke to them about interviewing skills and career development.

"The HR profession is probably not even on most students' radar. Most HR practitioners I know, 'fell' into the field by accident. But we want to 'catch' these emerging professionals early and tell them how dynamic of a career HR can be!"

"It's important for students to understand the functions of an HR department." said Germany. "Even if they don't pursue HR, they'll interact with us throughout their careers. We want students to know how to use their HR departments to enhance whatever path they choose."

GCHRA has been the area's leading HR organization for more than 35 years.

The organization represents every industry along the Coast and includes Executives, Office Managers, Attorneys, and Small Business Owners, and other professionals who want to better understand employer obligations, be strategic business partners, and manage employee relationships to the fullest.

GCHRA is an affiliate of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).
