President's Letter - First Quarter

    Cheers to the New Year!  It’s hard to believe we’re off on another trip around the sun, and this year brings plenty of excitement for our Chapter.

    This marks our 35th year as the leading HR organization on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!  Since 1983, GCHRA has served as a resource for local business and human resource professionals, and has grown to nearly 100 members representing major all industries in our area.  To celebrate this milestone, we’ll plan special events throughout the year – more details to come!

    I am honored to serve as your President.  During my past year on your Board of Directors, I had the privilege of working with a great team, and found a strong mentor in our Past President, Christy Strawbridge; I came to have a better appreciation for the hard work of our Chapter volunteers and leaders; and what were once only networking relationships have turned into friendships that I truly value.

    It is my intent to continue building on our successes from 2017 while working toward new goals for the upcoming year.

    In October, we invited members to participate in a Feedback Survey to measure satisfaction with the Chapter, and to find out what objectives are most important to you.  Those thoughtful responses will help us create our initiatives for 2018 and beyond.

    Our 2018 Board and CLA Directors are a wonderful mix of tenured and fresh faces; they bring energy and great ideas to help move us forward, and I’m excited to be a part of this group!

    It is my sincere hope that each member will become more active – in some way – and support each other with your time, talents, and knowledge.

    There will be plenty of volunteer opportunities throughout the year, but great start is by attending Chapter meetings each month – these are times when we’re able to share ideas, discuss issues that affect our workplaces, and find resources that will help us excel in our careers - just from being in the same room with one other!

    Incredible things continue to happen with GCHRA and I’m looking forward to a wonderful year ahead.
